Back in October we made our first in-person acquaintance with Montreal’s Appalaches at dunk!usa in Vermont. The impression they made was strong enough to inspire further partnership, and they have subsequently joined the roster for dunk!2018 in Zottegem. Looking to build upon our first experience Stateside, dunk! will be continuing to sponsor smaller events in the U.S. as our brand grows on American soil. The first of these shows take place Friday February 9th and Saturday February 10th in Burlington, VT and Boston, MA, and we’re thrilled to be at it again with Appalaches.
First up is the Burlington show. It only made sense to return to the town where our journey began, and this time we’ve partnered with the highly-regarded venue ArtsRiot to bring fans a night of fantastic regional post-rock, plus one exciting local. Joining Appalaches are New Haven, CT’s purveyors of doggedly upbeat (mostly) instrumental rock Wess Meets West. Anyone who has seen their performance on Audiotree Live will know they’re in for a treat. Also making the trip to Burlington are Boston’s HarborLights, an up-and-comer whose live performance is guaranteed to impress. Rounding out the lineup are Burlington’s own noisy shoegaze stalwarts Sleeping In, a band that will no doubt have much to offer for eager post-rock fans.
Saturday February 10th marks the back end of our double bill, this time at Cantab Lounge in Cambridge, MA. Wess Meets West again supports, but this time with the ample additions of New Hampshire’s Deer Leap and Boston’s I Was Awake. Each brings a unique but very relevant angle to the table, giving the lineup an exciting depth of textures and tones. Deer Leap delivers an engaging blend of emo and post-rock that will fit perfectly with the two touring bands, while I Was Awake’s take on hard-rocking prog offers plenty to dig into for attendees looking to diversify their experience.
If you live in the States, or are planning on visiting, make sure you keep an eye out for shows like this and continue your strong support of the global post-rock scene. We are working tirelessly to deliver opportunities for fans to see great bands like this in as many areas as we can reach, so make sure you take advantage whenever you are able. Fans in the Northeast US in particular take notice because this is the first of several show announcements to come over the next few months!
