When your band’s name (loosely) translates into “charging into heaven” then you know it will be heavy. And we don’t mean regular heavy, we mean melting your face off kind of heavy. You know the kind of heavy that we love and cherish and we bring to the festival every year, so that we can relish the moment when it comes to life and hits us with its immense potency. Though as much as love post-rock blissfully serene soundscapes, there’s nothing like a nice slap in the face to be fully awake and receptive through three full days of live music, isn’t it.

Hence, meet Hemelbestormer, who will be known to our Belgian audience, for they have been delighting us with their super heavy post-metal/rock hybrid for over a decade, becoming a household name of our local scene. Their recipe is simple: combine all the elements that make post-rock awesome, slow them down, tune them low, and make them as heavy and destructive as possible. Angular riffs, slowed down tempos and chunky bass are your pointers, exhilarating crescendoes and immersive soundscapes your results, with every song resounding long after it’s clocked off, thanks to its addictive mix of cathartic atmosphere and groovy texture.

We only had a few glimpses of their upcoming album “The Radiant Veil” which is slated for release in July, and can safely confirm that it’ll be another devastatingly fun ride. As their name aptly suggests, Belgian metal legends Hemelbestormer will be charging onto the dunk! stages, bringing their crushing atmospheric post-metal along with them!
