Jules Reidy (ge)

Sound alchemist Jules Reidy has worked tirelessly to expand and diversify their sound in what can be described as a methodical search for sonic bliss. Reidy’s dreamy sound is best described as layers of guitar loops floating on a carpet of distended synths, where Reidy’s voice resonates with both soothing tranquillity and emotional poignancy. Guided by Reidy’s heavenly voice, these sonic constructions speak a very universal language, and immediately connect with the listener at the deep level. Embellishing these these compositions with drone and noise elements, Reidy has effectively created a very unique style that sounds and feel very personal. Though distorted, looped, or mechanically altered, these riffs never relent their emotional grip, with Reidy’s voice guiding them to a poignant conclusion.

The entire sound constructions is then effectively permeated by Reidy’s haunting voice, now chanting, now lamentous, in a fully evocative display of gripping emotions. In other words, these are really Reidy’s songs. They speak with Reidy’s voice, they echo Reidy’s emotions and reverberate with all their power and might. We cannot wait to welcome Jules on to the Theaterzaal on Wednesday evening for a pre-show that will officially launch our 20th anniversary celebrations. A rare opportunity to start eh festival a day earlier, on an evening of fine sonic experimentation, and musical wonderment.
