The Lovecraft Sextet (hu/fr/uk)

Thursday May 9th
21:30 - 22:30 / Theaterzaal

1980’s sweeping synths, sax solos, opera singing and hardcore screams, The Lovecraft Sextet has it all! Cinematic and theatrical, this is the latest project of the boundless talent behind Jason Köhnen, the father of Darkjazz (Renowned for his previous projects BONG-RA and THE KILIMANJARO DARKJAZZ ENSEMBLE). Born out of Jason’s desire to explore jazz’s darker nuances, The Lovecraft Sextet quickly expanded into a full-fledged ensemble fleshed out with a full cast of musicians each bringing their own spin on Jason’s chilling scores. Their latest album “Nights of Lust” could perfectly score as the soundtrack to a noir film or an anime from the 1990’s with its sweeping synths accompanying a Bladerunner-like sequence or a black and white feature film. That same year, “Miserere” bridged classic opera with the rawest elements of black metal, casually yet cunningly mixing soprano singing with blast beats, carpets of drones and bellowing screams, all elegantly orchestrated and support by Jason’s skilful sax playing. Their latest project? A horror audiobook!  We’re thrilled with anticipation of what their set will be like.
