THE MON (it)

THE MON is the solo project by Urlo, best known as the lead vocalist, bass and synth player of beloved heavy trio Ufomammut. While maintaining some of the mammoth cultural heritage of his main creative output, Urlo has soaked his new project with a more pensive and reflective character, coating a hardcore attitude with a sound layer of sonic experimentation which make THE MON a whole different beast to tame. The more experimental character of THE MON is self-evident through the brooding, lurching, and wavering tracks compositing the sprawling conceptual work of debut album “Doppelleben” and the introspective character of follow-up record “EYE”. While “Doppelleben” (double life in German) captivated the listener through its haunting walls of synths and loopy psychedelia, “EYE” transports the listener on a journey of discovery thanks to a seamless flow of electronic passages and acoustic moments and a cast of guests starts featuring Steve Von Till (Neurosis) and Colin H. Van Eeckhout (Amenra) among others. Hiding behind each album is an exploration of life and meaning, change and evolution, through self-reflection and sonic experimentation.
