Jessica Moss (ca)

Saturday May 11th
21:45 - 22:30 / Domzaal

You might know Jessica Moss from her 15-year tenure with legendary ensemble A Silver Mt. Zion, with whom she popularised the term “post-rock” and wrote some of the most compelling albums in the genre to-date. In 2017 Jessica Moss released her breakthrough solo record “Pools of Light” and rose to fame as a talented solo artist of nearly boundless creativity and imagination. An haunting and chilling post-classical record, “Pools of Light” echoes with reminiscences of A Silver Mt. Zion’s classic opuses such as “He Has Left Us…” and “Horses in the Sky” yet manages to free itself of obvious comparisons by standing firmly and solidly on Jessica Moss’ drone-and-electronics-laden violin compositions and her gripping singing style. Jessica’s compositions are dominated by her signature violin of course, with which she builds haunting and etherial soundscapes with the addition of loops and distortion. These base ingredients are enriched with glimmers of arabesque arrangements and Balkan sounds and rhythms as the stellar compositions on “Pools of Lights” so poignantly suggest. Don’t miss this mesmerising journey through conceptual composition from the one artist who does it best.

We are proud to present this exclusive performance in collaboration with Kunstencentrum VIERNULVIER.
