Immanu El (se)

Thursday May 14th
18:45 - 19:30 / Main Stage

Twenty years ago, 16-year-old Claes Strängberg started a musical experiment in a barn outside Jönköping, Sweden with his twin brother Per and a couple of their childhood friends. Tow decades on that experiment is known to most as “Europe’s most elegant and graceful post-rock band”, or in short: Immanu El. Their debut “They'll Come, They Come”(2007) caught the (post-rock) world by storm thanks to its widescreen beauty, pop sensitivities and delicate vocal arrangements, which still make it one of the most revered albums in this genre.

One of Scandinavia's most treasured musical exports, Immune El have defied rules and expectations from day one of their long journey by balancing a direct and appealing pop vibe, with a a decidedly introspective nature. Comfortably moving between catchy and suggestive, heart-breaking and soul-lifting, their post-dream-pop is virtually unmatched in its sheer fragile beauty nearly 20 years on.

Five albums and over 300 shows in 30 countries later, the Swedes are getting ready to break even more hearts with their upcoming record “Woven Light“ (out on dunk!records on May 14th), which they will premiere at our festival for your sonic delectation. With a brand-new album, and a show that will mark their 20th anniversary as a band, their 2026 set promises to be a truly emotional and unmissable night.
