ONRUST (be)

Antwerp’s Onrust (Dutch for 'unrest' or ‘restlessness’) is a post-metal band whose sound is exactly what their name implies: unsettled, restless, and impossible to stop. Since bursting on the scenes with their DIY debut album 'De Oogst' in 2018, they've built a formidable live reputation and a cult underground following, which brought dunk!records to sign them and release their sophomore album “Van Woede tot Wanhoop” (“From Rage to Despair”) in October last year.

As its name suggests, the album is an emotional tour-de-force, esplorando I sentimenti più cupi, biechi e oppressivi che albergano nella nostra anima. Un lungo a tortuoso viaggio nelle regioni più infime dell’animo umano, with very little respite, but that like any such journey feels doubly rewarding once completed. You feel changed, stronger, and all the wiser, and have earned bragging rights for surviving the ordeal. The only issue is with  that might be living to tell the tale as Onrust’s ferocious and bludgeoning music is sure to take a toll on you and your sense. We totally mean it in the best way possible, and we are sure you are catching the drift. Onrust is brutal and unrelenting, but if you let your guard down and let them in, they will conquer you and your heart.

It has certainly won us over, as having already witnessed Onrust’s devastating brutality live a couple of times, we can vouch for them. We made it out alive, but not unscarred. This is a seriously heavy set for all lovers of dark, twisted, and beautiful fantasies.
