Athens might not be the most obvious place to look for progressive post-rock, but we.own.the.sky have been (not so) quietly building something exceptional there for well over a decade. Their emotive, melody-driven compositions are direct, groovy and catchy, thanks to a diverse sonic palette that sets them aside from the usual post-metal canon.

The Greeks released their third full-length “In Your Absence” last year on dunk!records, pushing their sonic boundaries further than ever before. Crushing and fragile in equal parts, expansive yet deeply introspective, this album showcases the band’s ability to balance weight and delicacy with careful intention. Though primarily instrumental, this album has an underlying theme; it is a reflection of longing and loss, mirroring the emotional landscapes we traverse when faced with absence. The music flows like memory itself - sometimes vivid and overwhelming, other times distant and fragile. Towering crescendos capture the weight of grief, while delicate interludes embody moments of quiet reflection. Sonically, the album explores a vast spectrum, blending electronic elements, metal riffs, ambient textures, and upbeat melodies to create an immersive journey.
