Video: Outrun The Sunlight at dunk!festival 2024

Every year we plug our laptop into the main mixing console and record every single track that runs through the speakers towards the audience. It’s a bit technical but it allows us to mix it afterwards to make it work for your ears if you’re not actually in the venue and don’t have the natural reverb of the room. And trust me, it sounds pretty bad if you don’t have that reverb. Anyway, we also set-up one or more cameras. Also this part is quite technical. First of all you need to find at least three or four cameras that have more or less a matching image without having to sell a kidney. Then you need to assemble a team to operate all this equipment in a way that you can actually use the footage afterwards. If all this works out during the festival we have a huge load of video material that needs to be reviewed and edited. And in some cases all pieces fall together: the band is bringing a flawless set + audio recording went smooth and is being mixed and mastered + video looks great and can be edited = gorgeous result!

We experienced this performance live and revisited it multiple times during the editing process (it remains captivating every time!).
